At The Table

As we come to the Lord's Table today, we remember the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. We will focus today on 1 Corinthians 15:1-7, what Paul defines as "first importance" — the truth of the Gospel by which we are saved. The key elements of this are:

Christ died for our sins as the Scriptures had promised

Christ was buried

Christ was raised on the third day as the Scriptures had promised

As we remember the Lord's death, we do so on Sunday, the first day of the week, the day on which Jesus was raised back to life. As we remember, we also anticipate when Jesus will come again — all of this is emphasized in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 and Acts 20:7. We enter in and share the saving work of Jesus as we share in the Lord's Supper.
